Need Iron Recomendations

I have been in need of a new iron for at least a year. My iron had been dropped too many times, and leaked. Since then I've bought a few, and always returned them. I went back to my leaky iron, until last week when the bottom of the iron leaked rust water onto hubby's dress shirt. So now it really, really is time to buy a new iron. I would like to keep it under $100.00 USD, and would love recomendations from one and all: this means YOU

I had to replace my iron after almost 20 yrs last year. I opted for a Rowenta 9080 Pro Master Steam iron. I really like my Rowenta and I love the fact that it doesn't have an auto-off feature. It came with an ironing blanket and an iron cleaner plus a bottle of Best Press spray starch. I ordered it from Allbrands. Hope this helps. I have a Shark. It does have the auto shut off but turns back on just by moving it and it reheats quickly. I haven't had a problem with this feature, in fact it has saved me a few times when I have forgotten to unplug it. The only thing I would like added to it is a Teflon coating and I'm not sure if other models in this line may have it. I have to clean the plate more than I'd like. I have simplified it by keeping the towel I use close and the cleaner that I use even closer and it only takes a few seconds to wipe it clean.

I have a very inexpensive Black and Decker Steam/Dry iron. It does have the shut off feature and I love that . It lives in my sewing room on the table beside the serger and cover-stitch machines. It gives an audible click just as it turns itself off, and all I have to do is move it for it to stay on. If I don't hear that the button to turn it back on is right on the handle and only takes a minute to reheat. Mine will shut off after 7 minutes of non-use. that is long enough a pause when I am sewing a garment to have time to sew a seam, press, sew another seam, press...etc...

Lib, my 2 very favorite irons were inexpensive. I had a Black & Decker, and when that went I bought a Sunbeam. It is the Sunbeam I am replacing, and I have had this iron well over 10 years. Besides being so dependable, I absolutely love the non stick plates on them, and the light weight.
Recently I bought a Sunbeam, but I returned it as I couldn't get the fill cover open without cutting myself. I don't believe that you should need tools to fill it or bandaids either!

I agree Theresa DS bought a new coffeemaker recently because the old one died. It has been in use a month now and I finally was able to get the lid off the pot to wash inside the pot. DS said he wondered why I did not even rinse it out daily. He was at work and when he got home, I would not mention it. He just automatically rinsed it out daily. I told him of the problem and he said it was hard for him at first, but it had gotten easier. It is still difficult, but at least I can now wash the pot daily. DS only rinses it
