cleaning self healing cutting mat

I think I've finally found something that will pull the fibers out of my mat. It is a kitchen cleaning pad. Dry it is stiff and scratchy and perfect for rubbing across the surface pulling fibers. So far I haven't seen any scratching on the mat or the markings and I've used it at least a dozen times so far. It seems when I cut fleece the fibers get into the mat and just keep building up. I saw the Nancy Notions has something to rub across the mats that does the same thing but Is a whole lot more expensive to buy.
