New to sergers

New postby Emiroo on Sun Jan 10, 2016 12:07 pm

Hi,

Thanks in advance :)

I recently bought a singer 14SH754 overlocker which is a 2/3/4 thread serger. I have threaded it up for 4 threads to practice but I would like to try a 3 thread stitch. Does this mean I have to fully unthread the 4th thread? I only ask as I know some of them can be super irritating to thread from scratch as opposed to knotting. Is there a way around this?

Thank you :)

When switching to a 3 thread, you have to remove one of your needles and unthread it or use only one of your loopers and both needles. Either way, you will have to rethread it for the configuration that you want. Here's a tutorial that might help you. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MrqHC2CNjVI and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hv7W-z8IGsM. There's a lot of information on YouTube to help you with your serger. By the way, welcome to the group. Would love to see your projects and read about your sewing adventures.
