Even Feed Foot Viking 875Q

New postby memom27 on Wed Oct 02, 2013 9:30 pm

I would love to have an even feed foot for my Viking 875Q. But at $129 for the official Viking foot it's out of my reach. A bit of internet searching finds all manner of different price points for generic makers that say their foot will fit the Viking. Has anyone bought the off brand foot? How did it work? Any suggestions?

I have a Viking Lily and an ancient Viking 6430 and agree the price of walking feet is outrageous for it. I did break down and buy a generic foot from Hancocks and must say it works well on my ancient machine but won't fit onto the Lily. The arm on the foot won't fit onto the needle screw. I'm sure if I could find a longer screw it would work just fine though. Since I have the 2 machines I leave the walking foot set up on one and just switch machines when I need to.
Have you checked into ebay for walking feet? Prices can go all over the place there but they are more affordable if you just wait for the deals to appear. I've gotten many extra Viking feet for my machines that way at very reasonable prices, many of them in original factory packaging.

@sewinggrandma. Thanks for the reply. I had looked at ebay. They have lots of options, but with the price all over the place (as low as $9.99) I'm suspicious of quality. But, of course at $129 for the Viking, I'm suspicious I would be paying a bit for the name. I may see what Hancock's has.

Memom, you might try the yahoo group devoted to selling sewing items ... it's SewItsForSale@yahoogroups.com. You may be able to get one at a reasonable price. I have bought some stuff thru them and was very satisfied.

At the risk of sounding really ugly, I must comment here. I have disliked Sue Hausmann for years because she supposedly has a sewing program for teaching sewing techniques and new items to create. She only has a program to sell, sell, sell. She is always so busy telling you what foot you need for your Machine, that she cannot teach the lesson. I no longer watch her. She is NOT a Teacher. She is a high power Salesperson. I think she must have a large chunk of Viking stock.. I refuse to buy anything Viking. There are always other brands just as good or better for less money.. This is my opinion.

Libby, Sue Hausmann is the spokesperson for Viking sewing machines. She is employed by Viking as their representative to promote their products. The same as Nancy Zieman used to be employed by Pfaff and is now the spokesman for Babylock and Fons & Porter are employed by Bernina. I've never seen any sewing shows that have Janome, Elna or Singer sewing machines or any other small brand names on their shows. These people became household names because the sewing machine companies paid them and produced the shows. Thought that you would like to know these things but I'm sure that you already do. :D :D :D

Yes Marty I do . Also Brother furnishes machines or did for Sew It All.. But Sue makes me sick, she is such a SELL>SELL>SELL> personality. She will interrupt the instructor 2 or 3 times to say over and over what foot is being used.. She is only there to sell, not to instruct.. That is the difference between a good heart and a totally selfish money hungry person. This is my opinion as I have stated before. And I will not say any more about her.
