? for the Apple computer users

Need to know if anything can be done to upgrade ds computer we got for him ohhhh about 4-5 years ago. He claims that with Apple you really can't do anything to improve the speed or upgrade it like you can Windows computers. His is a laptop by the way. I thought someone on here was an Apple user so thought I'd ask. We certainly can't afford to get him a new laptop. He only works part-time. He doesn't make great money. Sooo just wondering. Thanks.

Karen, my daughter upgraded her Apple computer from Snow Leopard (operating system) to the Lion (operating system) for around $300. We just bought the disk at the Apple store and had their tech support install it. It was much cheaper than a whole new computer. We told her that her laptop must last her thru grad school. Then she can buy herself the next one when she is fully employed.
