Housekeeping

New postby MartySews2 on Tue May 13, 2014 9:01 am

Housekeeping is not my strong suit but I realized today that I was being selfish in keeping old PM messages which takes up space for Kaitlin & Bob's site. So I did a little housekeeping. If you have a lot of old PM messages in your inbox, you might want to delete some of the ones that are taking up space.

I wouldn't know how to check if I had PMs so if anyone has sent me one and didn't hear back that is why!! Told you I was computer illiterate.

BTW I don't like housework. I've got too many other things I like to do. I do what I have to do to keep the house presentable and then I'm off to do fun things. My DM told to keep housework low on my priority list as it would always be there for when I'm ready to do it. Thank goodness DH isn't a neat freak and will occasionally pitch in.

I'm not a computer whiz but I do frequent different forums. Up near the top of the page it says "personal settings" then in parentheses ( ) it will say 1 new message, in my case 0, put your curser over that and click. Your new message heading will be there waiting for you to open it. I'll send you one for parctice.

Oh, I appreciate the concern, but don't worry about this. The cost of computer storage decreases at incredible rates; it is essentially free. Right now, even if every single member had 10,000 messages each, the total cost to us would only be something like $0.03 per month.

I did realize, however, that the forum software we use here (phpBB) by default had a limit of 100 personal messages, which is needlessly low. I just increased that to 1000.

Piney, I sent a pm (I think) and even figured out how to delete. Wow that was easy. Thanks for sending me a pm so I could see what it looks like when I get one. Now if I could get my pics from the camera to the computer and on to here I'd feel like a genius!

Wow, that is a good price for computer storage!

Brockie, you are too crafty. I checked my pm, but saw that it had been deleted. Glad it was intentional and you are trying out the features. I have dial-up still so picture loading can be a challange. When I upgrade it will be a long learning curve. 8-)
