Arrgggghhhhh!

New postby Pudge99 on Sun Jul 01, 2012 6:24 pm

I am having one of those days where I should have stayed in bed (or maybe staying in bed was my problem). Started with over sleeping and missing church. Then I went out to start yard work. Couldn't get the bleepity, bleep, bleep, bleep, weedwacker to start. Hubby came out and it started right up for him. Then I found that my neighbor has parked his truck on our side of the street and left for the day (that really makes it hard to mow the hillside and edge the yard). Then the bleeping weedwacker ran out of string. Mind you this is a new weedwacker so of course it doesn't take the same size string as the old one. I remembered I had a spool of string left by the previous owner and it was the right size. So I loaded it up only to have the bleeping string break as soon as it started spinning. So yes, weedwacker string has an expiration date if anyone wonders. I headed off to the store to get new string. No problems there except I was gonna stop and get some lunch but forgot. Loaded it up with new string and had hubby start it again. Then it decided it was too hot and stopped running. I just set it down in the shade and walked away only to notice poison ivy growing in the crook of the kids favorite climbing tree. At that point I came inside to sew. LOL! Was that ever a mistake. I have never in my whole life had more trouble reading a pattern. I have absolutely no clue what the heck kind of fly these shorts are going to have as it does not resemble anything I have ever seen. For some reason the buttonhole goes on the flap that goes behind the zipper and if I am reading the directions correctly the button goes in front of the zipper. I really cannot visualize where they are going with this thing. So I think I am going to call it a day and go hide in my bedroom. Oh wait the kids want to light off their fireworks tonight. I have a BAD feeling I am gonna loose and eye or something  .

(((HUGS))) Take a nice deep breath & go take a nap. This heat is killing our brain cells & we cannot think straight. Hope tomorrow is a better day.

.....and it continues. My oldest son made dinner. It was delicious and gave me the will to try again. I went out to do some more trimming and the blasted fuel line broke on the weedwacker. Oh yeah and my pumpkin plants are dying and for some reason my pepper plants won't grow. I have leaf curl on my tomatoes and the plants I transplanted out of my compost heap thinking they were cucumber were actually pumpkin and I trained them to go up a trellis. Of course THOSE vines are thriving. So now I gotta come up with some kind of hammock for the pumpkins  . At least they are pie pumpkins and not the big jack-o-lanterns. That would have been fun.

Gina - I had to laugh about your pumpkins on a trellis! But then I googled it, and perhaps it isn't such a crazy idea after all. :)

Nope, it isn't. We were all ready for our cantaloupes with little mesh bags from onions, potatoes, etc. and then got one stunted fruit! Oh well, we were prepared. ;)

I stayed in bed all day today. Decided not to take a chance. I didn't put an eye out with the fireworks but we did get a dud package of sparklers. I caught up on all my recorded sewing shows and soaps. I didn't get out of bed until hubby came home and made me go to Walmart with him to get the things needed for dinner. I am afraid to slice the peaches for dessert. So many things can go wrong in that situation. I  hope I don't skin my finger.

Fingers survived the peaches. Peaches and raspberries on a slice of angel food cake topped with Redi Whip. YUM! So I am ready to tackle the shorts again.

Much better after a day in bed. Should have just done that on Sunday. The shorts are almost complete, I am finally getting sleepy so I figured I better not risk it. I'll finish them tomorrow. I still have no clue what this fly will be like when done but as far as I can tell I have followed the directions.
