there are ladies that come Thursday and they area at there machines 12-14 hours a day and only leave them for meals

I think if I wanted to sew like that I'd save my money and stay home and sew.

I like seeing what others are doing. It challenges me to accept new ideas also.. I am always looking for anything new to me.Or just old things I may have known at some point and just forgot.

I love sewing retreats where the focus is on sewing ... our guild had one about 150 miles from Memphis back in 2003. It was wonderful as we had a large room & people could come in & sew as they liked while looking out over a lake. There was a washer/dryer & ironing boards w/irons at our disposal. We were in the woods & it was fall so the leaves were turning colors. Meals were prepared for us & snacks set out by the retreat center in a separate dining room. I'm one of those who wants to sew with minimal interruption which doesn't happen at home. I got so much done that weekend & it was only $35 a night for 2 nights with a minimal of 10 people which included the meals. The cabins were rustic with twin beds (8 to a cabin) & 2 bathrooms per cabin. I think we had 12 people that year. It was a fun, fun time. There was no shopping unless one wanted to make the 12 mile one way trip to Wally World. I can no longer travel but have great memories of that retreat. I came back to Memphis relunctantly but I was refreshed & had a renewed excitement about sewing.
