As some of you know I'm trying to research Pattern Master Boutique by Wild Ginger. I went to the Yahoo Group for it to join so I could see what people thought of it and was DENIED!!

Here's what the moderator sent me:

Hello,

Your request to join the patternmasterusers group was not approved.
The moderator of each Yahoo! group chooses whether to restrict
membership in the group. Moderators who choose to restrict
membership also choose whom to admit.

Please note that this decision is final and that Yahoo! Groups
does not control group membership.

You may find other groups to join by searching or browsing the
Groups directory:
http://groups.yahoo.com

If you would like to create your own group, please visit:
http://groups.yahoo.com/start

Thank you for choosing Yahoo! Groups.

Regards,

Yahoo! Groups Customer Care

My feelings are hurt. I sent a nice note (as required) telling why I'd like to join. I just said I'd like to find out more about the program before buying and saw this as a good resource. Jeez. I guess they just don't want too many people and not accepting folks who don't have the program is one way of doing it. But I see if I do buy the program they won't even take me since I've already been denied! Who needs them anyway!!! Feel like starting my own group (as suggested). I'll call it "Mean Moderators".

Lennie, I know what you mean. Some time ago, when I learned that Mary's Daughter has revived S-W-N, I tried to sign up for it, made a boo-b00 and sent an e-mail requesting help so that I could have access to that site again. They never even answered my request. I assumed that since she is so young she didn't want anyone my age on there. I feel like it is their loss, so I don't worry too much about it, but it does nag at me a little to be refused admittance. If you get a 'mean' group organized , I will join it to support you..

Lennie, I'm so sorry that you were denied membership. Did you try the demo software to see if you would like it first? Several of my friends have tried the My Label by Bernina & absolutely love it. One lady was able to make a pair of pants that fit the first time she tried. I don't know the cost as Bernina doesn't post that info. I'm debating between My Label & Wild Ginger but the more I read about the My Label software, the more I like it. My clothing is very simple as I can go anywhere in a skirt or pant, shell & jacket & be properly dressed. I like basic tailored pieces that can be mixed & matched. Seldom is there an occasion that I would wear a dress.

Do you think there may have been something amiss with the site? It sounds like a form letter of some sort to me. It may even be that the group has folded or else lost a leader or have too many/no members to make discussion valuable. I am always surprised at the things that happen on some sites. If you have a membership with Yahoo try joining from within Yahoo. If not, signup for Yahoo and try from inside. There are some interesting, though LOTS, of sites there you may find the information you want. From my perspective, there are so many it makes my eyes glaze over. I wouldn't take it personally, it is their loss not yours. They do not know you enough to draw a conclusion about you.

I have heard good things about My Label. Has anyone recently purchased the program that knows the cost? Through another forum I was able to get the pants fitting instructions (Huge # of pages) and it looks good.

Thanks, Dorothy, you're sweet to say that. I'd be silly to take it personally. I know that but it's not like I said anything that would make them think I was a spammer or some other undesirable. It looks like there's plenty of activity on the board. Whatever.

And Libby, I can't imagine why you'd be shut out of Mary's daughter's board. Don't take that personally either. They're certainly missing out with all of your experience. All I can say is their not accepting you just leaves more of you for us!

Just looked up "My Label" on Patternreview and all I can see there is that is was priced at $499.00 in Feb. of '07. The reviewer was an instructor hoping to teach it and was very impressed. Others decided from her review to wait for coming versions hoping to get different features they were interested in.

If it was that much at the start of '07 then I think I'll rule this one out. It's probably $800 or $900 by now. But on the other hand they might have different versions at different prices.

Their loss.

On getting clothes to fit I purchased the dress and pant kits SureFit Design -(NAVY). There are lots of helpful vidoes on the website.http://www.surefitdesigns.com/
I got a buddy to measure me and made a toile and one small tweak - that was way back in June. Couple weels ago I used my "blueprint" pattern to draft a princess seam dress and it fits :D So I am one very happy camper I can tell you. This weekend I have drafted off a chanel style jacket using instructions in the book that came with the pattern.
