Can you use fleece for rice bags that go in the microwave? It's not going to catch fire or anything?? I have snuggly stuff and a old careworn and much used neck sausage that needs replacing.

100% cotton only in the microwave is what I have been taught.

I use fleece for rice packs all the time & have never had a problem except my great nephew who put his in for 10 minutes! it didn'y burn but it did smoke/melt!
Fleece is the favorite around here! they seem to stay warm longer

As far as I know you can. The 100% cotton rule is for the baked potato thingies and other stuff that goes in for a longer time. Don't the rice packs go in for only 1 min. or less?

The lady I know with one, has it in a muslin permanent cover and then a flannel or fleece (she has 2) outer cover. She uses hers so much, she needs 2 covers. Both work great in the microwave. I am pretty sure its the time involved. The longer time will be trouble maybe.

They only go in for a minute, maybe a minute and a half, so general consenus is that should be fine.

I used an old towel for mine, cut it 12x12 and filled it up. Never thought about fleece but seems it should be fine. Mine is large so it covers my shoulder blade area and neck and is heavy enough it stays put. Haven't used it in awhile but glad to have it when my neck/shoulder freezes up. I've also used old tube socks of Joe's.

Well, you can put fleece into the dryer, so I'm sure it would be fine with the rice packs, as long as you didn't leave it in for too long.
