Jeanette - thanks for offering! I will definitely be looking for some help soon. So far I'm still figuring out how things will best be organized, but in the not too distant future I would like to have moderators focused on a particular topic they are knowledgeable about/interested in..so be thinking about that.

Karen - to add a signature or change your avatar, there is a "personal settings" link near the top of the page (just under the logo and "Sew What's Up"). There are tabs to manage different aspects -- what you are looking for is under "profile." Let me know if find what you need there.

I agree. That was successful and painless. And I do like this site. Very straightforward and easy to use. Thanks to you and your husband.

Hi from New Zealand, a big thankyou to you and your husband for setting up this site and thankyou for informing me about the change on my last post on SWN. I had only been a member on the other one for a short time and was sad to hear it was closing, I was not sure how much longer it was open for.
I look forward to getting to know you all. Take care and happy sewing :)

I'm sew happy to find everyone. What happened anyway? I was lucky to find you, I got a reply from my post on one of the About.com forums that you were all over here. Did all of you Sew What's New orphans get a notice or what? How did everyone find this site? Looks like another great spot to talk about sewing, thanks Katelinegan.

Hi Longblades -- MaryW decided to close down Sew What's New, so now many of the members have found a new home here. My husband and I started this site shortly after Mary made the announcement that SWN was closing, so many of the members were able to find out about it on SWN. Unfortunately, those who didn't happen to check SWN over the couple of weeks between when the announcement was made and when the site closed got lost in the shuffle! I'm glad you made it here, and welcome!
