reconstruction using blue jeans

New postby bridesmom on Tue Oct 20, 2009 9:03 pm

Found this website with women who started this company by using reconstructed blue jeans to create some beautiful jackets. It doesn't look like they would be too difficult to attempt, with a nice jacket pattern and some old jeans. I think it will be on my list of things to do, as I have a dresser drawer full of jeans and jean pieces that MIL gave me. http://www.blackbeltdesigns.net/designs.asp

Ok, for those prices, I would donate some of my jeans that actually fit me! I have made a 6 gored skirt from jeans legs and some hot pads/ rugs/ placemats, but if I could get that kind of money off of my "cast offs" I am all for it!

Kind of makes you feel good that you could make something like that, that other people have paid $300-$500 for doesn't it!!

As usual...I like the expensive ones...and I'd never wear the reconstructed overalls. This is something that I'd try...if I sewed clothes.

Wow, that's in Alabama. :D I like the first one and the last one. Pretty cool. I might wear something like those, but not any of the rest of them.

I can't get over the prices. :shame:
I'm creative. You can't expect me to be neat too.

I don't wear jeans & did not care for the clothing. Besides, it is way over priced. The Univ of Memphis is collecting cast-off jeans so it can be turned into insulation & given to Habitat for Humanity. It makes great insulation for walls & is a great way to "go green".

I liked the overalls. I liked most of them but agree the prices are ridiculous -- but there are always people out there looking for ways to throw away their money.

Doo you suppose she constructs them in some unusualway or hand sews them. Of course the less we value our work the lessothers will value it. Give a puppy away and it hard to find takers, sell it for a bit more than its worth and people will at least look to see if they want it.
