Welcome Snapowl,
I cannot give you an answer, sorry, but I did want to welcome you to this site.. Someone will answer soon, I bet..I have a Janome Memory Craft 4000 that I bought in 1994 . I love it darly.. I was getting ready for retirement in 1999, so I got prepared with a good machine..It is not an embroidery machine.. I could not afford one of those..

That is the smart way to do it.. I bought my first machine in 1957 after renting it .. Singer had a program, after 3 months, if you purchased it your rent counted as the down payment and they financed the rest over a period of a year.. I still have that jewel.. My sons and grandchildren call it "Old Faithful".. It is one of those wonderful Singer Featherweight Portables, or Singer 221"... Whichever name you might recognize...

Welcome snapowl! I can't help you with your question but wanted to welcome you. Have you tried calling the dealers in the area and asking if they know of a rental program?

by the way, the children in the photo are lovely.I am a retired RN, now I teach kindergarten! as the shifts were not working out for my family. I loved nursing and I love my current job too.
You have been quilting 3 years, I have been quilting 3 weeks LOL I am taking lessons and can't believe how much I love it. Went to a Large Sewing Festival on the weekend and bought a ton of fat quarters LOl so I guess I have to make a few more wall hangings!

Ciao

Snapowl, not living in Canada, I cannot help you. I do know here in Memphis, TN, the dealers do not rent sewing machines. I bought a nice portable machine for classes. It is a Babylock X-scape & only weighs 12 pounds. I really like it a lot & use it every week in my sewing ministry.

Ciao, I have 3 Janome's and love them. My latest is the 6600 Pro (I think. Its to late to go look right now and make sure) It has a built in even feed feature that is supposed to be good for quilting. It will also sew through heavy fabrics with ease. Its not an embroidery machine but sews like a dream.
