I got up the nerve to make the final version of the top this weekend. Here come the pictures:
Overall, I'm very happy. I think I'll get a lot of wear out of this for the fall and winter. The fabric is 100% cotton interlock, in a shade called "rust" but I think it looks more orange..but a subdued orange if that makes sense.
Here's a link to the pattern: Simplicity 3634. This is really a pretty simple top - only 4 pieces to stitch together, and the hardest part is doing the narrow hem on the cowl neckline because the wrong side will show. If I do this again, I'll probably double the cowl piece and topstitch the edge rather than hem it..even though the fabric doesn't have a ton of stretch, it didn't really want to cooperate with the double turned hem. It did very well with the twin needle hems for the sleeves and bottom, though.
Still some wrinkling in the back (excess fabric wrinkles, not pull lines) - I chickened out and didn't attempt the sway back adjustment since I was afraid it might do more harm than good. Maybe next time.
Well, what do you think?
