I got up the nerve to make the final version of the top this weekend. Here come the pictures:

Overall, I'm very happy. I think I'll get a lot of wear out of this for the fall and winter. The fabric is 100% cotton interlock, in a shade called "rust" but I think it looks more orange..but a subdued orange if that makes sense.

Here's a link to the pattern: Simplicity 3634. This is really a pretty simple top - only 4 pieces to stitch together, and the hardest part is doing the narrow hem on the cowl neckline because the wrong side will show. If I do this again, I'll probably double the cowl piece and topstitch the edge rather than hem it..even though the fabric doesn't have a ton of stretch, it didn't really want to cooperate with the double turned hem. It did very well with the twin needle hems for the sleeves and bottom, though. :)

Still some wrinkling in the back (excess fabric wrinkles, not pull lines) - I chickened out and didn't attempt the sway back adjustment since I was afraid it might do more harm than good. Maybe next time. ;)

Well, what do you think? :eh:

Well, I think it looks great.
For a few wrinkles like that in the back it might be easier to fix by just getting a new back! Ready to wear never looked so good.
I bought myself some knits for my birthday. I'll probably get them made around Xmas -- I have other stuff to do first. I might need a lot of help with the knits. I haven't worked with them much since my oldest was in elementary school. I did do a couple shirts -- both out of the same pattern -- but I have other patterns I want to work with too.
I would call that color pumpkin too. My knits are paprika, raspberry and peach colors. Seems to be a food theme for knits this season.

Kaitlinn, I don't know if that is the same pattern I made or not.. I sent an e-mail to Simplicity about the pattern I used and asked if the single layer cowl was an error in the pattern.. They responded that it was planned to be a single layer.. But, they sent me a coupon for a free pattern.. I made another one and doubled the cowl , but the knit was not soft enough to lay prettily like yours does.. That is a fantastic top.. I think the interlock is soft enough that it could be doubled safely and still look fantastic.. That color is great on you..

Now that top looks much better - the knit has much better drape and lies well - sort of gives a false v-ish feel if you know what I mean.

I am amazed at how much you get sewn!
