Seattle Fabrics seems to have a great selection. Denver fabrics is also an option.

Unfortunately, Denver Fabrics (the website) is now owned by the Fashion Fabrics Club people and they have exactly the same stock. The only difference between the two websites is that they run different sales.

Dorothy - I'm still getting used to the costs of shipping - that is maybe on the high end, but not out of line. I have a bit more confidence in their fabrics (Vogue Fabrics) than I do in Fashion Fabrics Club. I suppose shipping just has to be figured into the price of the fabric. I guess I wouldn't want to order just one cut from them, but maybe if I got the fabric for both pairs of pants it would seem more reasonable... :?

I guess this all just brings home the point -- it's hard to shop for fabric online. Since I have plenty of sewing to keep me occupied for now, I'm not in a rush to order - I might head to the inconveniently located "finer" fabric shop across town or maybe even make a pilgrimage to Nancy's Notions which is 1 1/4 hours away. Of course, since I'm on spring break, I've been sick with a nasty cold. I've been avoiding leaving the house, but hopefully by later this week and the weekend I'll be less of a public health risk. :D

Well, like I said, I've shopped with Vogue Fabrics for many years and always been happy. But, of course, with swatches you know more what you are getting.

I don't know how they are about returns because I've never returned anything.

Well, I ended up getting some suiting from Joann's after all. After seeing that it was going to be somewhat of a hassle to buy online, I figured I was probably a bit too critical when I looked there the last time. Sure enough, I found a nice polyester/spandex blend (probably with rayon, although that part was cut off the label) in both black and light khaki. And only $6/yard (on sale)! :)

I make my own pants because none of the RTW ones fit! I have a small waist and wide hips (hourglass figure), so any that fit the hips gap in the waist...how unsightly! Have you considered a twill or lightweight denim (doesn't have to be blue or the weave used for jeans) for your pants. Maybe even gabradine (spelling?).

Now that you have your fabric, I just remembered that Mary W always recommended Timmel Fabrics for fine fashion fabric, and they are in Ontario, which is closer to you, so shipping may be better. She always bought from them and really liked their fabric.

It seems like shipping is the same just about everywhere - at Timmel Fabrics it's $10 to the US for any order under $50. A lot of places have similar shipping costs -- it makes it expensive to make a small order, but I would rather buy smaller amounts as I will be more likely to actually use them rather than have them collect dust in my stash for years... Oh well. Someday I will figure out this online fabric shopping thing. :?
