Chennille by the inch

Chennille by the inch

One of my goals for the stash is a sweatshirt makeover. I bought a project pack on clearance, that has the instructions and the materials - I just need to supply the sweatshirt. Anyway, it uses the chennille by the inch, & although I "think" I followed the instructions for joining the chennille into a 100 inch strip, it looks crappy to me. If you are making one long strand, how do you piece it? One seam down the middle overlapping the ends 1/4 inch? Sewing accross (horizontally) the 1/4 inch overlap?

Any thoughts?

I suspect that when the chennille is stitched to the jacket it will look better. I have never examined one of those jackets up close.. Hope it works out.
