What quilting projects are you working on?

Thank you ladies! Future DSIL posted on my facebook page that he loves it and that I am amazing! Ha ha...he will get to know the real un-amazing me in time. I pushed them to make fabric choices before my surgery because I knew I would have all day, every day to sew and get this top going. I didn't realize how bored I would be and that this project would be my saving grace. I can't do anything but sit, so I sit at the sewing machine all day with a fluffy pillow on my chair. I get up to move around so I don't get too stiff. I really surprised myself that I finished the entire top as quickly as I did, but am really glad because that gives me about a month to work on hand quilting it before I return to work.

I can't decice if I want to bring the PVC quilt frame upstairs or use the free standing large round hoop frame. If I use the frame it would be a lot of reaching and stretching whereas the round hoop would be one ring at a time. Decisions, decisions!

I'm going to buy the backing today and I'm thinking I'll get black so it won't show as much dirt/dog hair/everyday wear.

But every little white or light piece of lint will show.. Why not back it with a mottled grey which IMHO hides a multitude of sins..

I agree with Libby. Black shows EVERYTHING! Even white is better.

Too late, I bought the black today. Hopefully it will be ok for them.

Oh my word! That is beautiful! Are you doing any special designs on it as you quilt?

The pattern I used was Quilting from the Heartland with Sharlene Jorgenson. It came with 1/8" thick templates to use with the rotary cutter for all 1353 pieces! I also bought the quilting stencil, which gives 24 quilting options. DD picked the simple heart design to go in the center of the rings. I hope to get it all stenciled and ready to layer on Wednesday night at church where my 'quilty ladies' can help me.

I took 'The Monster' to quilting at church tonight. It took six 6 foot long tables to lay this monster out! Then it took five of us 45 minutes to lay and tape the backing, smooth the batting, get the quilt top flat and pin the layers together!!! I bought more pins and still had to borrow some from one of my friends. OH MY there are a lot of pins in that thing. :o

It will be beautiful when its done! Truly a very memorable keepsake.

I finished off two small quilts today, only 2 larger ones left, then I have to get more batting to do any more. I played with different patterns when FMQ and am quite happy with how they turned out.
