Crossover Neck Tie

So last night I whipped up this little tie so I could look smart on my first day as Manager in Training at McD's.

I've thought about making something similiar but with cooling gel that you freeze. Ready made ones are called neck coolies or something like that. You freeze them then put around your neck to keep cool when it's hot-hot-hot. Joe could use them at work as the plant is nearly un-bearable at times even with big fans going. I've just never gotten around to doing them.

You look very nice and professional. Two of my dd's work at McD's. dd22 has been there 7 years incl. back home and here locally. She was manager back home but didn't like the responsiblities (she was only 19 and friends with all the younger employees then, hard to be in charge). Now she is beverage coordinator here, was offered management again but didn't want it. dd17 started March 2010. I thought maybe dd19 would apply there now that she's back home but I'd rather her work elsewhere. Three siblings at one location may be too much for the other workers to have to deal with plus it would be hard for all 3 of them to get the same day off if we had family plans.

Miracle grow makes granules you can use or I got the gel beads at the garden store
My sister just made some & used a wooden bead to keep them closed

I mix rubbing alcohol and water in ziplock bags, cheap enough, doesn't freeze solid, bendable, etc. They last a couple hours in the house before thawing, then just re-freeze. Not sure how long they'd last outdoor or in the hot plant so if I make them, I'll make several or get the gel beads so they'll last longer. I even thought about using his hard hat liner and making "whole head" ones since I keep his hair cut in military fade style.

After wearing this tie for a few hours I realized that it was too long. I could see the ends in my peripherals and they were flapping. I felt like my tie was flapping it wings to fly away. So I have shortened it a bit and cut the angle the other way. I am much happier with it now. I will wear it to work tomorrow to find out for sure.

When you have time, please post the updated version. I looked great the first time around but I can see why you changed it.

I'll post tomorrow since it looks best on the shirt and the shirt is in the wash.

Looks good, Gina!!! Now that I see this one, I agree that the other one was too long.

I'm guessing a tie is a must at McD's? It's been so long since I've been in one I can't remember what the inside looks like.
