I wall hanging completed.. All stash used.. Only item purchased was the iron on bias tape for the "Salisbury Window" pattern.. It is so pretty has cardinals and a little yellow, tan and brown bird on the print .. and they are in pine trees with small pinecones interspersed .. It looks good, if I do say so myself.. I machine quilted it with invisible thread on the front and I matched the backing with beige thread on the bobbin.. Everybody at class today thought it was very well done.. They are proud of me, cause I don't do big quilts. I took off on this project because I love the way they look, and I'm making Christmas Gifts, and best of all GETTING RID of stash.... I've still got 2 or 3 tons left, though..

I sewed up a storm for the last two days!! I made 7 grocery totes for my DD who has been asking and asking. Have had the fabric for a year! And the new DIL gave me some beautiful apple green and white checked fabric which I used to make 2 tablecloths and 8 placemats today. The placemats took me twice as long as when I put the batting in, I did it wrong, and had to cut them all (yup, all 8) apart and resandwich and resew. The moral of the story is - do not do a sewing marathon when you are home sick with a head cold. This weekend I'm working on UFO's.

2.25 yds

I am pleased to announce a finished UFO! DH wanted a shirt out of some really soft, fabric that stretches like crazy though it is not a knit, I'm not sure exactly what it is, but it's definitely a woven, but has a wrinkled texture to it, and lots of bright Hawaiian flowers on it. My first attempt, this summer, he didn't like the way the shoulders hung, so I ripped it all apart and tried again. Still didn't like it, so I threw it into a corner. Today I got it out, took a shirt in another soft drapey fabric he wears, and used it as a pattern. It is now done, and if he doesn't like it, then I may use it as a nightshirt! I have more of the same kind of fabric in a different color that I was going to make a dress out of, but now I think it will wait for a while. It's summery fabric so it can wait til spring. Great having another day off to myself! I'm heading back down to sew more.

3 yards

New postby cshortsew on Sat Oct 06, 2007 2:55 pm

I finished the princess dress for my granddaughter. I bought the dress fabric (1 3/4 yards) in March. The skirt lining (3/4 yard) and the sash (1/2 yard) migrated from my mother's stash to mine a few months ago.

I hope to sew tomorrow. Had to do some shopping & then make carmel corn for father in law's birthday. Then I got started here & time ran out.
