Ticia, do you mind telling us about the receiving blankets? There are some at my church that make blankets and quilts for charity - I'm definately interested in receiving blankets - they would be easier for many of us newbies.

Oh my, I just added another UFO to my original post...an Autumn wall hanging. Started it in Sept but never assembled as I didn't have enough sashing fabric. I bought some in Nov. but never went back to finish it. So it's also on the list.

 I should probably finish my calendar quilt first since we're in a new year and I wanted to start one for this year too. :? Would I get demerits for starting something new?
So far I've only sorted through and looked at several UFOs in my sewing room. I want them all done NOW so it's harder to decide where to start.
I'm trying to stay away from the fabric stores. :hand:
I'm creative. You can't expect me to be neat too.

No demerits as long as you finish it.

I'm sure glad to see that i'm not the only one who has the S W N Christmas Block Swap blocks still not finished .. LOL..
Cannot post my goals yet..
Temom== I'm not ticia, but I just cut a yard of flannel and serge it rounding the corners and I use wooly nylon in both the loopers on my serger.. Makes great receiving blankets.. The ones you buy nowadays are so skimpy in size...Everybody loves mine.. If I had an embroidery machine , I would put a little motif in the corner of the solid color ones, but not the prints..

OK here are my goals:
Sew buttons back on DH's pants & DS's shirt
sew aprons I cut out for work
Make DD's cloak (was supposed to be Christmas)
Make curtains for laundry room
Make DGD's Easter dresses
Then whatever suits my fancy when I have time & energy to sew!

We are doing some remodeling/rearranging in the house so I haven't really had time to get to sewing.

I'm going to be cautious!! (ha ha!) I have a jean jacket and pair of jeans as UFO's that I cut out before the last stash challenge and never got to them. I also want to finish off the two quilts that are in progress and get 1 more done. I have some RTW stuff that I took apart to make smaller, and some RTW pants to make into capris, but I won't add those in, cause they really aren't UFO's.

3 yards

New postby esrun3 on Mon Jan 14, 2008 7:33 am

I'm not good at goals but do love a good challenge so I posted my goal as using up yardage (any amount is good for me! and some UFO's as I come across them). To that end, made pj's for Kendall and a maternity top for my dd yesterday and started quilting a wall hanging I've had around and unfinished for over a year! So.....3 yards so far used up. won't count the ufo until it's finished. Trying to decide how to hang it before I put binding on it.

That's how I make my receiving blankets too......everyone I've given them to loves the larger size. I don't always use wooly nylong though, sometimes just the regular serger thread and everyone likes those too.

Libby, My blocks aren't sewn together yet either! LOl I even bought the sashing and backing when we were doing the blocks and still it sits in the cabinet. I still have 2 of the SWN BOM we did to finish up...I had made 3 of them and got one finished that first year for my dil but never got mine or my dd's finished. Maybe I can find the blocks and get them done too.
