Ok, update on the wardrobe stuff! Unfortunately I haven't been able to make any real progress sewing lately, but since I have off from classes for spring break this week I'm planning to do a lot. :D I plan to do a bunch of cutting today and tomorrow, then sew sew sew.

I've also made a couple of changes to "the plan" -- I'm adding a shirt dress in khaki cotton poplin, and substituting my old jeans pattern with the new Sandra Betzina pattern: Vogue 1034 - the full length bootcut version. I'm still looking for fabric for a couple of the pieces, but I have enough to keep me busy for now. :D

I've also been thinking about summer -- several of my pieces will work for summer, but I want to add some shorts, skirt(s), and short sleeve shirts. I'm currently liking this "shortie" suit pattern: Simplicity 3846.

I think your ideas are wonderful. I (purchased) cheap pants at Ross, (because I got fatter) and one of the 2 that I brought home I love. I am going to copy them in something other than black. I have a closet full of different sizes of black. But this one pair is really awesome. I just hope they fit the same way after the wash. I took out the hem before the wash so maybe I can add a facing after they shrink.

Time to revive this thread again. :) I will be entering in the mini wardrobe contest on http://www.patternreview.com for the month of May! The basic idea is to make 4 garments that mix and match with each other - 2 tops + 2 bottoms, 3 tops + 1 bottom, 2 tops + 1 bottom + 1 dress, etc. I've decided to finish up what I can from my spring wardrobe in the days before the contest starts, then focus on sewing for summer. That seems appropriate since the weather is really warming up around here! Here is my tentative plan for summer:

I don't have many of the fabrics picked out, but I'll be working on that. ;) I basically need an entirely new wardrobe for summer, so the plan is a bit ambitious. But, I think the patterns I've picked out are on the "easy" side, and I think I'll be splitting up the wardrobe into 2-3 "mini wardrobes" so I don't become overwhelmed. What do you think? Anyone else up for wardrobe sewing for summer?

Edited to add: Here is the tentative storyboard for the contest. The jacket may wait until after the contest is over, since 4 garments in a month is a pretty tight timeline!

WOW! I really like the storyboard. That is a great challenge. I hope you win!

I think I am going to start altering my RTW stuff right now. I've lost 46 pounds now and I really hope to loose 50 more. Once I am done loosing weight I hope to get back to wardrobe sewing. I love it--I just have not been able to keep up with things that fit because of the weight loss. I will however join in with other things. Right now, I plan on making two cat beds. Once I find the pattern again I'll post it. :D

This is the pattern I am working on right now. I am working on "c", it's the one on the top righthand side. :) The fish.

Kaitlin, I am amazed at how far you've come. So ambitious! You're as accomplished as many of us who have been sewing for 30 years or more. Great plan. Please keep us posted.

Jen, please post about your project. Love to see a picture.

After making my first top (Simplicity 2936), I've changed my mini-wardrobe plan a little - I've decided to make a second version of that, with different sleeves, but I'll be leaving off the collar that is shown in the picture. I probably won't be getting to the jacket in May, but who knows. Maybe I'll at least get a start on it.
