Quick baby boy quilt

New postby bridesmom on Tue Sep 28, 2010 5:10 pm

Finished off this one last night, it was quick and easy and I tried doing flames on the red fabric which turned out not bad.
Tried doing kind of what Leah Day does for her flame design.

Super flames Laura! That was one of Ricky Tim's designs that he used in his book Convergence. I was never able to figure out how to make them look good. Haven't tried them since I've gotten better at quilting though.

Where is some free online information about free motion quilting? That quilt is so nice. I'd love to keep some ongoing piecing and quilting projects to work on on the old treddle machine when I get home at 11:30 PM. Of course I'd quilt them on my computerized Janome but I could piece on the treddle.
I had a 90 year old patient that still pieces quilts on her sewing machine.

Go to Leah Day's website http://www.daystyledesigns.com/ and check out her free motion blog. She also has lots of videos on line showing how she does quilting. Patsy Thompson also has some great videos http://www.patsythompsondesigns.com/ I love her work too.

On Leah's blog, if you go down a bit, on the right hand side she has the designed classified, e.g. beginner, intermediate and advanced, etc.

And she has some articles about FMQ on her site here
