Finished UFO - Preemie Quilt

New postby HeyJudee on Mon Jun 02, 2008 8:42 pm

Hoorah...I finished a UFO. I pieced the squares last fall but never got around to finishing it. Last weekend I added the borders and spray basted. This weekend I finally quilted and bound it. Tonight was the last meeting of the guild and I handed it in. All the preemie quilts get donated to the Rich Little Special Care Nursery at the Civic Hospital here in Ottawa.

Great job! Very bright and cheerful. I just love ladybugs. :D Such a nice cause too.

Thanks Lori. Forgot to mention that I sewed the binding on by machine. I made a double fold binding and then sewed it to the back first and folded over to the front then sewed it down via machine using my applique stitch. It wasn't perfect but was OK. I'll definitely be doing this again especially for baby quilts which will be washed frequently.

I had to go back and look at your binding. It looks very nice with the applique stitch. I think I'll try that on the next baby quilt I make.

I just uploaded a pic of the binding on the back. Had forgotten that I had wanted to point this out. Here's the close up of the back...as I said not perfect but good enough for me to try it again.

So cute! I would have a hard time giving it away. ;) I'm sure it will be much appreciated, though.

Great job. I think quilting is hard work.
