I looked up the word too, Smilie. It's an old word but I'd never heard it before.

I've felt it though. It was hormonal with me though -- after babies and premenopause.
If a lot of people who spend time in the same place you do -- work -- are feeling it too, have you considered that it might in part be environmental?

We have one fellow that has been there less than a year that takes a little truth and twists it into a lie. That has us all on edge and we would like that fellow to realize he is messin' with folks livelihood. He is the type that presents himself as an authority on everything and has a lot of chrisma. He could sell ice to eskimoes. That is, until you get to know him. He doesn't realize that no matter how he talks, his position at work shows that he is just one of us.
Our workload has also been relentless with little time to regroup and my ineffeciency is more apparent at those times.
I am feeling some better today and determined to tackle some tasks that I have intended to do but havn't. I started yesterday getting some financial records together and mended a pair of jeans for DGS. I walked yesterday and If it doesn't rain for an hour I will walk again today.

Lori, I know how you feel about always having to use your off day catching up around the house. It seems there is always a load of laundry to do. Do you suppose that you could hire someone to just clean for you once a month just to get some relief. Perhaps once a month you could set aside a Saturday just for you no matter how much housework has to be left undone till later. An acquaintance of mine year ago, told me she had a friend that that shared housekeeping with her. One liked to Iron, one liked to vacuumn. They worked together enjoying the comraderie and accopmlishing the necessary tasks.

Marty, My mom was a pretty neat house keeper but mopping and scrubbing were not her priorities. Our house was always pretty tidy but not spotless.
She tried to encourage me by telling me that "the housework will always be there to do". She was helping me justify the other important things I had to do that took priority over the housework. Perhaps you could trade sewing for help around the house.

Sometimes Lori, you just have to take a mental health day. I have done it on occasion, not often, but somedays you really need a day off from life in general. There are those days when I just want to call in Ugly. Not sick, just ugly.

What you do is call in saying you have an "eye" problem. You can't SEE yourself coming in to work today!!!! :D :D :D

sewingmom, I cannot really afford that with DD in college. Right now it takes most of our extra money to pay for her gas, groceries, school supplies, car insurance, etc. I hope she'll be able to find a job near home and work all summer. She hasn't had any luck finding a job around school, other than babysitting occasionally. Too many students competing for jobs, I guess. She has put in over a dozen applications. The only ones (both restaurants) who called her needed someone to work the closing shift until 2:00 am. We told her NO. Maybe she'll have more luck when she moves home for summer and can save some money for next fall.
If I ever hired a housekeeper, I'd probably have to straighten up my house before they got here anyway. :anxious:

Laura, I've been thinking about taking a mental health day soon. ;) I like how you phrased it. Call in ugly.

Good one Lennie. Unfortunately, we've been preached at all year about saving our sick days. To me it's none of their business how we spend our own sick days, but some have been reprimanded for taking a sick day when they're not really sick. Not at our school, but in our system. It all comes down to them saving money. When we take off, they have to pay a substitute.

Lori, I am sorry. I forgot about the tuition outlay. I did not have a housekeeper and worked 2 and 3 jobs while DS was in College. Perhaps A good movie and a snuggle with DH one evening would give you a bit of rest. I have heard some people have some success by just closing their eyes and going on a mental trip to somewhere that they have always wanted to go or some other sort of mental fantasy to leave the weight of housework behind. You gould put on some energizing music while cleaning and have some fun imagining all sorts of things ;) .
