Is this heavy enough to make duffel bags out of????

I wish I knew. I need to make a motor cycle traylor cover out of rip stop nylon. I did put in a search recently for rip stop nylon and found a site that told some of what the each weight and type of fabric could be used for. I'll try again to find it.

This link shouuld get you to a page at seatle fabrics. They carry lots of ripstop type of fabric. They give uses for each type so I think this will help you answer your question

It didn't help too much and I tried to get an answer out of denver fabrics but nothing. So I bit the bullet and ordered it all anyhow, it should be here the end of the week so I will find out. I did use a heavier ripstop for my son's snowboard jacket and I wish I knew the weight of that fabric, it was great. I have seen it in a very light weight which would be good for jackets or raincapes.

I just got my fabric and it is fantastic! It is quite a heavy ripstop, thick in weave and will make great duffel bags. The DH is really hoping for some extra left over so I can make a motorcycle cover out of it too.

Laura, I need to make a motorcycle trailor cover for my husband. What did you order and where? Good luck on your duffel bags. Do you use some sort of nylon straps or what. I'm interested because I think i would need some sort of storage bag for the cover.

I got it at Denver Fabrics when they were having their clearance sale for $1.98/yard. The quality is great and here in Canada, for that, I'd be betting I'd be between $10/$15/m. I don't know if they are still having the sale and i think they were selling to another owner from what I got off the site. But it wouldn't hurt to check them out yet. Since the cover I am going to make is for the bike itself, DH is just wanting a dust cover, so I won't have to strap it down at all. If it's going to be outside and subject to weather, go for the nylon or polypropelene strapping or webbing, holds up better to sun and rain. I do have both that and a cotton webbing which is used for life jackets which also holds up really well to weather but it's tough to sew through.

Joann's has it also. I think it's the same stuff. I've seen it in their stores and you can buy it online. Seems like a good price. If you get their mailers you can get 40% off a single cut of fabric or free shipping very often.
