What can I make from this?

From a grab bag, I received a piece of black linen fabric, that looks like burlap, but with a much tighter weave. The description says it is light weight burlap look linen fabric . It is 1.25 yards, and 45 inches wide.
It is gorgeous, but I don't know what to make from it.
What would you do with it?

That's an easy one, Theresa. I'd make a sleeveless shirt-style top, maybe double breasted with copper buttons. Don't know why but that just popped into my head. You cold dress it up or down.

Is the fabric soft? If not, I think it would make a great handbag. Just some thoughts.

It is very soft. When I saw it I scoffed, then I touched it, and saw how close the weave was. This is certainly not burlap!

Then I see a nice sleeveless shell with some type of interesting neckline detail. I like Butterick #5608.

Marty, that is a gorgeous pattern! Too bad I don't have enough of this material for it, but I've added that to my JoAnn's shopping list!

That pattern is on my "to buy" pattern the next time Butterick goes on sale.

I like Lennie's idea too, that sounds supercute.
