I wash everything in cold water and prewash most fabrics that way but with denim I prewash in hot and dry in hot full cycle. I have two uncomfortable pair of pants that I seldom wear because I didn't prewash in hot. It will shrink a little bit more the first several times you wash it if you don't get it all shrunk down at first.

Dorothy is right.. Do it all at once and get it over with.. Then ever after wash in cold or whatever you want and dry also, because you do not have to worry about shrinkage..

Alright. I know now to listen to advice when I get it. :) I'll wash it warm and tumble dry the first time. Maybe I'll sew it tomorrow...Or in another few weeks.

Well, I just finished my skirt. Thanks for all the tips! I think I incorporated them all. I washed the fabric once in cold, and let hang dry. Then I washed it in hot, and dried in the dryer. I discovered my machine does have an overcast stich (reading the manual is a good thing), so I used that. I then finished with a flat fell seam. The skirt looks good -- better than anticipated! Thanks for all the help!
