Gorgeous coat!

New postby Niamh on Fri Jan 30, 2009 7:22 pm

I fell in love with this pattern: http://www.mccallpattern.com/item/M5717.htm??tab=jackets_coats&page=2 and made it in a black wool with a a pastel pinstripe. I have been dying to make a coat with some shape and this one was actually quite easy. As well, it was easy to fit since it provided pattern pieces to fit different bust sizes, a brilliant thing, I must say. I had to recommend it :) Hoping to add some pictures when my camera works again

Would love to see pic when the camera is working. I'm curious tho, you mentioned that the pattern accommodates different bust sizes. How did they accomplish that?

The pattern is one of those with separate pattern pieces for B, C, and D cup sizes, so the full bust adjustment is already done for you.

I have a couple of these patterns, but have always been a little unsure about choosing the numerical size - I think I read somewhere that you should use your high bust measurement (as you would if you were going to make a FBA yourself). That would make sense, I guess, since a size 14 for example has different finished bust measurements for the cup sizes - 41" for a B, 41.5" for a C, 42.5" for a D cup. Niamh, how did you pick?
