I found this project in a pile. I am not sure when I started it, but it was quite a while ago, probably 2 years or more, since the tee is sized 6 - 8, and I usually buy a 10-12 for dd. I apparently wanted to see if I could make a tee into a dress code approved shirt. It has to be solid colored, have a collar and sleeves. I bought a bunch of shirts when they were dirt cheap - probably no more than 1.50 each. I used 2 shirts, one for the shirt, and one for the collar and the placket. The only placket I have pattern for is a Kwik Sew, so I must have used that. My collar was too small (I had just used a collar from some miscellaneous pattern - I have no idea what), so I cut it in half, and made a piece to insert into it, giving me the needed length. I truly had no idea how to do any of this, just made it up as I went. I sure wish I had written stuff down!
Anyway, here it is in all of its glory. There is a basket load of mistakes on this, and the stitching on the ribbon I used to cover the collar seam is really, really crooked, but it is done, and the kid likes it. The buttons I found in my hand me down button jars.
If anyone knows of directions to put a collar on a tee shirt, I would love to have them!
