Lennie, I have to have the book jammed open so it's no good with a paperback...

friend no 3 forgot to bring the mags to Church so I am still without...but daughter and I had a companionable moment knitting to Big Bang theory. She is making a pair of socks from a kit I gave her on her birthday in April. We have a different speed...

My MIL does continential, I've tried but just am so slow, I can only knit that way, no purl. She does the knit through the back on ribbing, makes the ribbing look really nice, it gives it a little different look.

When I knit I use the continental method. It's faster for me.

I keep twisting the stitches on continental. I keep forgetting which side of the stitch to go thru and then which way to wrap. It really is a mess when I do a little of it all, stitches going every which way.

Have you guys seen the knitting technique using both cont. and throwing? I forget what it's called. It has to do with color changing. I've heard that the speed knitters all use cont. stitching. I'm a thrower and I'm quite fast I'd say. Never tried continental. I should try. Maybe I'd like it.

I'm figuring on that sampler shawl for my next project. It's all done on #10 needles. Haven't used anything that big in a while. Decided to use Lion Brand "Amazing" and stopped at JoAnn's but they didn't have it. Michael's did but it was almost $7.00 per skein and no coupon. I can order it online from Joann's. I'll do that now.

I got that glove thingy at Hobby Lobby the other day.. Only got 1 because I was alone.. I am so glad ! ! When I got home and opened the package, there are 2 in there.. What a surprise.. The ones I looked at other places only had 1 per package. This pack clearly says 1 pair, but I did not read that in the store..Sure am glad I could only use 1 coupon that day. LOL

Libby, please let me know how the gloves work out. I never got to pick up any. Hobby Lobby was out of them the last time I went.

Lennie, I found Lionbrand Amazing yarn at Walmart for $4.97 a skein. I love it, but it's like velcro when you try to pull any stitches out. :anxious: Because of that, I decided to use it for a simple pattern so I won't mess up. ;)
The sampler shawl would look "amazing" with it. :D

I think that's what I'm going to do too, Lori. That stitch sampler shawl has way too much going on and I'm bound to screw up more than a few times. There were 84 reviews of the yarn and again and again people said they loved it but man is it a pain to frog! I think I'll do the Kate Middleton look-alike. http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/milk-run-shawl The instructions give you so many options. I like the looks of it.

Used the gloves to finish the lacy scarf in dark blues I was working on, and instead of doing 20 rows and having to stop I finished it in one sitting and with no pain or stiffness. HOORAY for that.. I love them. I put both on even though it is always my left hand that bothers me the most. I am a southpaw, as most of you already know.. I might even try to do a small cross stitch project again, Who knows ??
