scarf and neckwarmer

I finished these last night. The black scarf is made of Loops and Threads chunky yarn and trimmed in Bernat Boa.
The neck warmer is made using scraps, holding 2 strands together and using a "p" hook. I like how it turned out and that it only took about an hour. I plan to make a few more neck warmers for Christmas gifts. I think they would be cute using Holiday buttons.

Very nice, both of them. I like the neck warmer idea. When it's really cold (like today) I like a scarf but always feel like a blimp when I've got it tucked in under my coat because it's in the way when I walk the dogs and let it hang free.

I like the neck warmer too. Is that pattern online??? When I wear my winter coat, I have a silk/fleece triangle that velcro's in the back. I love it as it can come up over my chin and nose if it's windy and cold. But this neck warmer would work for when I go shopping...and I still have a bit of yarn that I haven't given away so might be able to make a few for my sister/aunts for Xmas.

I didn't use a pattern, but there's several free patterns for them on Ravelry. I just chained enough to wrap around my neck, plus about 4" more. Then did one row of single crochet, 4 rows of half double crochet, then one more row of single crochet. I sewed on two buttons and just buttoned them through one of the loop holes. Some of the patterns have buttonholes crocheted into it, but since I used such a big hook, I didn't think I needed any.
My neck always gets cold going to work since I have to pull my hair up. I've been thinking about making one since it started getting cold here. Scarves get in my way when I have an arm load of stuff to take to the car. Plus I can leave this one on until our building warms up. ;)

You are so sweet, but I don't have near as much talent as a lot of the ladies on here. :) I just prefer sewing and stitching over housework. ;) Now I have to catch up on the house and laundry before the 25+ people come to my house for Thanksgiving. :anxious:
