I'm on my way to my friends house tonight, her daughter is going to teach us how to felt ( not the knitting kind) Not sure what I'm in for, but will tell you all about it later.

I've been seeing a lot of it on the sewing and quilting programs on PBS.

A friend came round with her stuff and I had a go some time back - it's fun - I have a small piece of fabric that I can use as a base for some free form embroidery. Can't think what else to do with it!!

A colleague from work started doing felting before I retired. She would knit doll type characters and then felt them to get unique characters. She made one with protruding eyeballs and stuffed with beads, balls, etc. and then felted them. It turned out so cute. She gave it to her granddaughter and said that Moe her husband had washed it to make it look like that. When her granddaughter told her mother about it, she said "Gramma made it...but Moe washed it!" The "but Moe washed it" was said with disgust...LOL

Jan, since I know you like embroidery and not the machine type, try this site...........www.urbanthreads.com Awesome embroidery site that gives options for each design; machine emb., hand embroidery, and graphics or something like that. Their designs are off the wall and I think you'd like them because well......... er.........ah.......you are too! :D

Here's my apple that I made, and what the tool looks like, you use wool roving, roll it into a ball and start stabbing it with the tool, squeezing the wool and shaping it into what you want. Then you take thin pieces of colored wool roving and punch them in and there you go. Not sure what I will do with it, but I made it all by myself. The tool I used had a shield on it, and I only stabbed myself 3 times!!
