summer cotton shawl

New postby Bama on Fri Jun 17, 2011 9:20 pm

I just finished this cotton shawl. It's soft enough to wear on a summer night. :) About to start on a more colorful one. I seem to be addicted to making shawls the past few months. I'm hoping to get 3 more done before two of my SILs come back to visit us in July. I can't make one for one of them without making one for all 3. ;)

That is so pretty. How long does it take you to make one? It looks labor and time intensive.

That is so pretty. I wish I worked fast enough to make warm weather stuff in the warm weather but if I want to finish something like that for the summer I have to start in December. Now I'm making little stuff -- scarfs, hats, socks and the like to get ahead for Xmas.
I did just finish crocheting a pretty cotton scarf for summer but I didn't get a photo yet. My camera needs batteries. I guess I'll use the phone.

I used a large hook, so this went pretty fast. I worked on it while watching TV for a few nights. I got another one about 1/4 done last night. I'm not crazy about the colors in it, but I got a large spool of Peaches and Cream cotton on clearance. ;)

Oh yea, next one is a different pattern I wanted to try out. It's called Eva's Shawl. I found it on Ravelry. I wanted to try it out on some cheap yarn before I attempt it in alpaca for fall.

That's very nice Lori! I've never been one for a shawl, they always seem to be what you would wear if you have a sundress on, and since I rarely wear dresses... do you think it would look strange with jeans?

I think they are cute with jeans (or a skirt) and a tank top or sleeveless shirt.

Wow...very nice. I crocheted two shawls years ago and only wore each one once or twice. I think I told the story once that I traded one of my shawls for a Westbend Dutch Oven. The second shawl is in a drawer in my spare bedroom. It isn't as lacy as Lori's but I found that it didn't keep me warm enough up here in the north.
