Simplicity 5527 is suppose to be pretty easy according someone at Pattern Review.

I have made several, but when I make bags and purses, but I make the patterns as I go.

I've never made this one but it looks similar to a tote bag pattern that I've made. Has pockets on the sides.

Here's a pattern on FreePatterns but you need to sign up on their site to get a copy

Hope this helps.

I make Simplicity 5320 http://www.simplicity.com/index.cfm?cat=3&type=0&sec=34&startrow=1 for baby showers. It's the one I've used for a diaper bag. Actually I've gone through a couple of different ones. To start I used the traditional diaper bag, which I still have for dropping them off at church and all of that, but I've discovered that once the baby is bigger, but still in diapers it's more helpful to have a backpack so it doesn't slip off your shoulder.

Okay, looking through Simplicity's website here's a few others: 4542 http://www.simplicity.com/index.cfm?page=thumbnail.cfm&cat=3&type=0&sec=26&browTypeId=&StartRow=21. It's got both a bag and a backpack pattern.

I put in Simplicity links because that's what's on sale at Hobby Lobby. You can find similar I'm sure at any of the big companies.

Thanks Ladies, I think I probably will use 5527 / simplicity. It looks easy and roomy. Maybe I can get it on the next 99 cent sell.

Oh, and I don't know if that pattern has two pockets for bottles, so if it doesn't add a second one. It's always handy I've found to have extra bottle holders.

You might also want to look at McCall's pattern #4339 as it has diaper bags and a changing pad. I bought this to make a baby gift and it was fairly simple to make.
