Pick up skirt

New postby mommydionne on Wed Aug 22, 2007 5:30 pm

OK I'm braindead, but I told someone I would mail them a pattern for a "pick up" skirt, so I wrote the address down and now it is GONE! and I cannot access SWN to check my PM for her address. So if I told you this send me your address and I will get to the post office ASAP (sorry no excuse except too much company and too many kids!)

hmmm I'm not good at verbal stuff, the skirt has an overlay with the top pulled up at points around the skirt, kinda like a antebellum skirt, think scarlet o'hara etc.

AutmunSky, try searching the SWN archives. I distinctly recall a thread that was about hemming a pick up skirt. the person who posted described the under side of the skirt in some detail, which I think will help you greatly in planning your approach. Might have been this past winter or spring. The underside was compared to a set of roman shades, with strings that are attached at various points, and by pulling the string you could shorten it, just like raising the shades, if I recall correctly.

Hi, all. This is the dress I am trying to copy. My daughter (the one in the wedding dress!) has asked me to make a flower girl dress to match, but with a brown tie around the waist. (The color of the bridemaid's dresses is brown... She's getting married this November!) I'll post a pic of the flower girl dress, as soon as I get it made. I am making a trial one out of cheap lavender satin... that way she has a dress-up dress to play with! Candy
