bustle a wedding gown

New postby pinecone on Tue Jul 03, 2012 9:04 pm

My daughter is getting married soon and I was wondering about bustling her gown. Both the top chiffon layer and underneath textured satiny fabric make up the train. It has a zipper down the back, empire waist and gathers with lace that goes from the empire waist to the train. I found a gown on David's Bridal that is similar:

At this point she is squeezing every penny. Wish I had high speed connection but I'll have to watch on dial-up. DD has high speed though.

There are so many sites with instructions and videos, Piney. I suggest you go over to your dd's and watch a bunch and see which would work best for her (gorgeous!) dress. Apparently there are many different styles. I know nothing about bustles.

Good luck!

You could take some clips and try doing it practice like to see how you like the look as there are so many different ways to do it. I did my daughters dress and it was pretty easy to do.

Lennie, I've been sewing since I was knee high to a grasshopper but this will be my first bustle. :anxious:

Laura, We did try to pin here and there and borrowed a manikin from our historical society to put the dress on. It must have looked "intriguing" from outside as you can see it through the window.

Thanks for those links on he other thread, Marty, time for Mother/Daughter time and watching some videos.
