Pants Sew-Along

New postby MartySews2 on Sat Jun 16, 2012 11:13 am

Let's have a pants sew-along ... choose your favorite pants pattern & make them up & post photos. We must include what techniques we used in the description. Let's have a deadline of August 31st. Then those on the dark side who do not sew garments can judge which one they like the best & I'll provide a prize to the winner.

Oh, oh, I have 2 pairs of capris to sew, will that work??? Both same pattern I think with zipper fly closing and lots of pockets. I'm in! I need to get these done for my holiday.

Yes, that will work. I have a pants pattern fitted & ready to cut out when I go up in the attic searching for the right fabric. Maybe I'll search the boxes in my van.

I could print off a pattern from WildGinger software or use one I have. Guess they will look like jeans.

It's whatever will make you feel comfortable wearing ... be it jeans, capris, or dress slacks. It is to share tips & techniques of what you did to create your pants. Our quilters (from the dark side) will be the judges. The winner will receive a gift card to a fabric store in their area.

That sounds fun...but I'd actually have to sew something! I've been so lazy lately... Do we have to start by any specific time?

No, you can start whenever you like. You just must be finished by August 31st. I think that this will be fun especially if we discuss fitting issues, technical details, lined or unlined, pockets, fly front zippers, lowered waistbands, curved waistbands, etc. Lots of possibilities for discussion & fun. Pictures of the process are a must.

Hmm, I might meet that deadline. I hope I have some weight off by then but I could choose to make them a bit snugg.
