I looked at the front and back view. I did not see a yoke pictured there. What am I looking at the wrong way ??

Laura, 5581 does not have a back yoke. I think you've mentioned before that you like the back yoke on this pattern. You're losing it, Laura. Or maybe it's a Canadian version? Just kidding! :D

Okay, I've seldom sewed for children since my own were little. Little boy's mom told me she would buy a size 6 for him. He's skinny. Do I make a Medium in this case?? Can someone help? I don't have the kid's measurements.

Lennie, who knew that Wikipedia would have sizing charts? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/US_standar ... s.27_sizes
They say size 6 is a 23 inch chest, which would be a size small for the pattern. I would look at the pattern, and see how much ease there is for a small, and then decide if you should sew a small or a medium.
I checked Penney's size chart, and they say a size 6 is 23-24 inch chest, and walmart says 25.
I would say a size 6 is probably 23. Is the boy slim or husky? That will tell you a lot.

Thanks, Theresa. You didn't have to go through that trouble. I figured some of you would know off the top of your heads. He's a skinny kid. His mom said she actually had him in 2T swim trunks during vacation in December! I'm guessing a Small would be good.

Bought my pattern and my fabric today! I'm making the whole kit and caboodle for youngest son and the shorts for the oldest. Fabric is in the dryer and almost done.

Oh brother, am I ever losing it. My Canadian version doesn't have a yoke either. I'm going to try to start some sewing tomorrow night after work while DH goes off to coffee.

I have to whip out a shirt for Father's day (probably won't finish it) but I'm using an old stand-by pattern.

So far we have Theresa, Gina, and me with Simp. 5581 and Laura and Dorothy with shirts from another pattern. Should we wait to start? Should we just start when we can and post pics along the way like Theresa suggested?
