butterfly sleeved top

DD and I went shopping last weekend and tops like this were everywhere. Some with squared sleeves like this, some with rounded sleeves, some shorter, some longer. We bought her a dress with sleeves like this, but we're going to attempt to make her some tops next weekend.

I just bought a pattern for DGD kind of like that, they do seem to be big this year. They look nice and easy to make though, it'll be fun!

Cute Lori ... they are really tapping into the late 70's/early 80's wear in the designs on the runway this year.

dd16 bought one last weekend at Fashion Bug. Looks good on her too. I'm not too fond of the print but it seems to be everywhere also, it sort of looks like maybe a navajo (sp?) design/Indian-ish looking maybe? I told her it looked like an accent throw rug! dd22 bought a tank top with a similiar print but in pastels instead of red/brown/turquoise.

When dd16 tried hers on and we saw it looked good, she bought in on clearance for $10. I said "that's nothing but a piece of fabric with a neck hole and seams up the sides, I can make that"....she rolled her eyes as my sewing room is full of partially completed quilts and Easter baskets. I haven't been in there in nearly two weeks due to working and not feelng well (pain in my legs and back again).

I took my teenage daughter and niece shopping and they tried on those tops.

All I could think of was Mrs. Roper from "Three's Company", which made me chuckle! They both asked, in unison, "Who is Mrs. Roper?"

I laughed even harder!

There are a couple new patterns out now too that she might like that are the newer shapes out now. (I posted a couple months ago about being frustrated because they had all these cute tops in the store, but no patterns -- I guess the pattern companies are slowly catching up!)

Here's one I just bought, but haven't made yet:

And I had to laugh about Mrs. Roper -- no teenager I know would have any idea who that was!
