One caveat is that if your boned bodice isn't pretty close fitting, it might stand away from the body weirdly.

That happened with my daughter's dress and we ruched it a couple inches at the center front. It looked great.

I've tried 2 project runway patterns and they sure are strange. I finally gave up trying to figure out the direction and the yardage and just went for it. They turned out ok, but I think I will have to absolutely love, can't live without it, before I buy another one.

I'm nearly finished with the dress (I can't find a 16" yellow zipper anywhere!). The pattern pieces were simple enough that I didn't read the instructions. The pattern called for lightweight interfacing on the bodice. When I was at JoAnns, the lady suggested I tried some "featherweight to mediumweight" interfacing. It seems that when I attached it to my fabric, it's closer to medium weight. With the additional structure, I don't think I need the boning any more.

This pattern was more effort than it's worth. If you are doing the halter-top short skirt version which I did, and not adding in boning, there are much simpler patterns out there. I will keep this pattern in case I need a formal dress. I think the long skirt with godets and strapless top would be great for a formal event.

I will look in my colection. If I have one I would be happy to send it to you since I don't sew with yellow much.

Sorry only yellow I have is 9" or seperating.

Use a longer one and just let the excess dangle inside at the bottom of the seam. That is the way my expert used to do mine, so I just copied her technique when I started sewing..

I just cut them to length and stabilize with several hand stitches where I want the tab to stop. Can't wait to see the picture. If I recall, yellow is a very good color for you.

When I cannot find the right size zipper for a project, I use either snaps or hook & eyes. A lot of vintage garments have hook & eyes in them. That is another option for you. However if you want a zipper & you cannot find a yellow zipper, go for a natural color or light beige. Your zipper tape is not going to show so that will work. Will look forward to seeing pics of your dress.

If I use a zipper that's too long, I put it in with all the excess at the top, then when I sew in the facing I cut off what I don't need. Course doesn't work well on a metal zipper or one of the coil ones, but I never buy those, I don't like them at all.

I do that too Lennie but in the opposite order. I sew in the stop before I cut. I learned the hard way.

I think I do what you do, Dorothy. I just said it backwards. But I do think I do it the other way once in a while too. Won't anymore.
