I need some opinions:
Most of the waist stays I've seen illustrated show the ribbon just tacked to the inside lining at the seam lines. Then you hook it together at the back before zipping the zipper. I saw one done in an article about foundation garments where the ribbon was sewn to the underlining all the way around. It seems like this would be more secure and more aesthetically pleasing, but I'm not making a foundation garment -- just a lined bodice. I thought I could still do it this way as long as I made an opening at the back of the lining for the ribbon ends to come out -- maybe long buttonholes? Or would that just be a lot of extra work for nothing, and should I just go with tacking the ribbon onto the lining?
I'm ready to attach the bodice to the lining, so I need to decide now...
