Great finds today

New postby bridesmom on Fri May 18, 2012 11:29 pm

Went to the thrift store looking for blankets that i can use for batting on donation quilts and came out with 1 m of batting that is 115" wide, for 2 quilts, another larger nonstretchy fleece type fabric that will be great for a lap quilt, and 4 yards of a beautiful white knit cotton/spandex blend, 3 yards of a gorgeous light sheer fabric to make either a top or a big shirt with in my colors, a 4 yard piece of knit in browns white and a brownypurple that I love, a long sleeved deep turquoise henley shirt, a short sleeved black tshirt that I may make sleeveless, and a cute grey cami all for $33. I am so pleased with myself! And after this long weekend I have a week off to sew sew sew.

Have fun sewing, Laura. I've resized the preemie diaper shirt pattern & will cut out & sew the shirts today. I've got to find some cording to make ribbon piping. Hmmm ... will send hubby to the store for me.

Great finds! You're not kidding, Laura. With thrift stores timing is everything. Absolutely. I keep resisting the urge to go since I already have three times the amount of everything I want or need. :(

I went Garage saling this morning but only saw 1 piece of fabric & it was a plaid upolstry fabric in blue. It was a good deal but I didn't buy it. Ibought lots of books for the kids for summer between the yard sales & a RIF book sale they have every year. I also got my grandsons some "Magic" ( the Gathering) trading cards I got about $40 worth for $10, also I got the boys a kit that has little clips in it so you can make things out of your spare change. I paid $1 & there were probably at least .75 worth of pennies in the box. Rudy built a little robot as soon as I left. I also found a brand new Skip Bo deck for Kim's bridal shower. I paid a quarter for it! She wants card & travel games for her shower & they are going to put them on the tables at the reception for people to play. They don't plan on having dancing & though this would be a fun way to spend their reception (She knows they won't get to play much)

I thought so too. We just have to make some labels so people know they are not for them to take with them
