Our little April fool's day joke (see here: Welcome to the Dark Side) raised an interesting question - are you a quilter, sewer, or both? Or do you defy classification altogether?

I'll go first -- I've only tried garment sewing because sewing clothes (mostly for myself) is what appeals to me right now. I feel like I have so much to learn about garment sewing, I doubt I'll get into quilting anytime in the near future, but maybe someday!

Actually you didn't have my best choice. I craft mostly, then garment sew, and then quilt. Depending on the time of the year or what mood I am in the ratio changes.

Actually, this raises an interesting question. I garment sew when necessary, but my love is quilting. I'm curious to see if anyone likes both garment sewing and quilting equally. My theory is that you would like one much more than the other. Something about right brain/left brain? Very curious.

I mostly quilt, hence the name - momquilts, but I occasionally sew garments. Those are mainly for myself but I do have a pattern ready to pin to the muslin for a dress for DD. I would like to get her to do the garment sewing so I have more time to quilt. As long as she has a computer and a cell phone I don't think it's gonna happen any time soon.

Knitting....if you count the 'always have something on the go' as what do you do most?

I love the fabric choices and arrangement of quilting and the texture you can create.

I enjoy garment sewing but never get as much pleasure from the finished project as I do from a quilt. And don't do it as much.

Recently( on Wednesday) made my first piece of felt and I am going to use it as a background for some embroidery...mmmmmm

I do almost all Garment sewing most of the year but craft a lot right before holiday craft show time. I really enjoy making clothes that look & feel good on. If I had more time I would make a lot more. I love sewing with knits like T shirts & sweats but am finding it harder to find T shirt knits. Great Poll

I was an exclusive garment sewer, I only started sewing crafts on a regular basis when I began making the tote bags for our halau to sell to raise money for the competition. But, I do like to knit, crochet & papercraft too, so I'm not always sewing. One day I would like to learn to quilt. I have a book on Hawai'ian quilts that I bought there in 2000. Now that I'm seeing somewhat of a reduction in my stash/horde, I think I may buy some fabrics to try some new techniques in the near future.

I make patterns first. I love it. I love to design them and then see them made up in fabric. So I guess I make clothing second. I have dabbled on the dark side from time to time only because family has requested something special, like the bankies. Like everyone else I suppose I have gone thru phases of x stitch, knitting and crocheting. I still want to learn how to tat.

I used to sew garments for the entire family, DH's trousers included back when the kids were still pre teens. When they stopped liking what I made I stopped sewing for a few years and picked up with x-stitch, crewel work, and of course my knitting and crochet. I did continue to make uniforms for myself and a few tops during those quiet years (did I say quiet with 3 teens in the house ) Once the kids started having kids I started in with sewing again. Making bumper pads, shhhh simple quilts, and all their sleepers, gowns etc to get them started. Then the grands started growing and I've been making them their outfits for school and summer. I do continue to knit and crochet but not to the extent I did back when.
