Fitting is the time consumer, not the sewing.. I use the same top pattern over and over for my scoop neck-tees, and as far as sewing time. Start to finish takes 30 minutes.. But, I already know exactly how it fits, so no time there.. I count the preparation time as a necessary evil. I am so difficult to fit, and that is one reason I use my patterns over and over when I find one I like.. Of course it helps that I only wear classic tailored styles.. At my age I do not follow fads. And nowadays most of the pants mfrs. are into short or petite lengths for pants, so a lot of mine are RTW nowadays.

before i re-married i used to sew into the wee hours of the morning so sometimes it would only take days to sew a garment but now i
like to get started at least a month in advance in hopes to get in done in time now that i have more responsiblities and a job. for me--cutting out the pattern and fabric takes the longest but once i start sewing-- i get into my sew-mode. length of time to sew also depends on how pieces, length, casual or evening, etc.etc.. best bet is to give yourself a month for easy and maybe 2 months for detailed depending on how much time you can spend each day
sewing. good luck
