Lovely purse.
I hate how the instructions on commercial patterns seem to be designed to make home sewers look like goofs! Over the years I've learned to either use the instructions as a guideline and add steps to make the product look more professional or just ignore the ruddy sheet altogether.
Next time you make this pattern, either use a smaller tab that does not extend all the way down to the piping and hides it or when you're stacking the pieces together, pin it first and see how it looks on the outside. Move the tab to the other side of the assembly if it covers your piping.
