New to sewing and my machine is being mean!

New postby lola-ryder on Sun Oct 10, 2010 6:42 pm

Hello, I just introduced myself in the other section, happy I found this forum!! Anyways, I have my moms old Kenmore 385.1684180 and my bobbin was winding fine and all of a sudden it's not winding at all. I do everything exactly the same, I make sure it's clicked to the right and clutch is pulled away from the machine but it won't move. This just happened right now I tried turning it off and unplugging it. I don't know what else to do, please help!!

FALSE ALARM!
I actually think I must have been using it for too long or something because I just left it off for 30 minutes or so and then tried to wind the bobbin again and it's fine! Back to work for me ;)

Glad to hear the problem fixed itself. :) I've often found that happens after walking away for a little while.

I think we have all had similar things go wrong. There are a couple of golden rules to sew by:

When it doesn't work, unthread the machine, top thread and bobbin thread, and rethread.
When you are convinced that you have broken your machine, change the needle.
And finally, recognize before it is too late that SOME DAYS YOU JUST SHOULDN'T SEW!

Good luck with your sewing!
