Sew What's Up

Any info would help. I need a tension thingy for it and any other stuff that will work on it. It has a Sphinx on it . Any clues as to how I can repair the bucklec vaneer.

Based on the photos and the serial number (you can look it up on the Singer site) It's a model 15.

The model number is either 127-3 or 128-3 (one is regular sized and one is a 3/4 sized machine) they use the same manual. You can download a free manual online from singer.com.
You many be able to order replacement parts from singer, or a local dealer may actually have them, otherwise, you may have to look on ebay for the parts, or a parts machine that you can cannibalize the parts from.

Thanks Jenny and Ruby. I will post again when I get her up and running. I hope to have Chloe next week and let her learn to use it. It is the tension disc assembly that is missing.

Ok, now I have to go find a picture of a model 15, because that machine looks like my 127-3, and my 128-3 looks the same, only smaller. The dates and place of manufacture are correct as I looked those up from the serial number.

I will defer to the expertise of Sew-Classic as I have never seen a model 15. Where did you find the model number from the serial number? never mind, I just found it - yep a model 15. (Note to self - read the whole line!)

Where on earth did you find that baby!?

That is a beauty. I would lightly buff the cabinet with fine sandpaper & add a nice wood stain probably a mahogany, walnut or oak. You have a real treasure & Chloe will love sewing with you on this machine.

A co-worker bought her when she lived in England, Never used her and thought all the parts were there. I scavenged parts off my moms old Singer and another old one that decorates my house. I now have hersewing but don't have the tensions rcorrect. I still need a belt and a replacement part for the tension so I can try to get all three of my babies going. Marty, Someone has varnished it at one time. The cabinet is rougher than it looks in the photo. The woman stored it for a while in an open shed through some bad weather. The veneer is all bucked on the top and pealing off in other places. Thank you for the advice. I can use all I can get. She will decorate my home indefinitely.
