Nothing new for me...still at 3.

Since I was a kindergarten teacher for 5 years...I just had to google to find out when Sesame Street premiered...which was back in Nov. 1969.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_Sesame_Street
I was in teacher's college that year and started teaching KG in Sep. 1970. But I don't think I saw it for the years I was teaching cause I was living in a country town and didn't have cable...just antennas...so it was either not on the channels we got...or cause I was teaching it was on when I was teaching. Back in those days, we had a TV in the school, but it had to be shared between the classes, so we had to book it and roll it from room to room. And of course, in those times, watching TV programs in school was kind of frowned upon. And since I never had kids, I've never watched much Sesame Street over the years as I was always working...so most of these characters are total unknowns to me. I'm only familiar with the originals...Elmo, Cookie Monster, Oscar, Bert, Ernie, Big Bird, Kermit & Miss Piggy. So most of my Bingo choices were the familiar ones...or chosen cause the names were so totally weird ;)

Two more today for a total of 6. I love Sesame Street! My kids grew up with it and now my grandsons are growing up with the newer version of it. I miss the live people on the street though. The newer version is more animation than people or puppets/Muppets.

DGS#1 loves Abby Cadabby and has a stuffed doll of her. Someone at church commented on him having a "doll". I indignantly informed them that she is a Muppet and not a doll, but so what if he had something with pink and purple on it? Don't mess with my Sesame Street 'people'. Hrump! (that was my indignant sound!)

Good for you, Momquilts. Do you remember the Cabbage Patch dolls for boys too? Little boys need something to cuddle too. Absolutely!

Judy, I have kids but I don't know any more than you. I haven't watched S.S. for close to 25 years so I'm not familiar with the newer characters either. I'm definitely old school when it comes to them. I do have many, many fond memories though. I'm sure I could still sing most of the songs from the era too. What a wonderful show it was for the kids.

Used to watch the Muppet Show regularly on Monday nights too. How fun. Definitely had more "adult" humor often that I'm sure sailed over the heads of the kids.

I need to go downstairs and clean up the toy box full of stuffed animals for DGSs. DS had Cabbage Patch, Pound Puppies, Disney characters and a big doll called My Buddy. He slept with Buddy every night and sometimes I couldn't tell which head was on the pillow, DS or doll. It freaked some people out but he loved that boy doll! He grew up to be a very nurturing daddy (DS - not the doll! lol).

My son had a My Buddy doll he named him Danny, older DS had a cabbage patch doll named Eugene. They got slept with everynight until they got into stuffed animals. DGS had a doll named Max because his Mom wouldn't name his brother Max.
